October 2005 - Posts

Welp, we've counted coup on Garr 37-ish times without seeing a single Windseeker Bindings, but just a couple weeks after completing our second Sulfuras hammer . . .

Behold, the cleansing power of orange.

Grats, Shara!

Debate, go:

"One orange at a time":  Yasmin's theory when we finished his Sulfuras hammer (see 10/6/05 below) was that we'd would immediately get another legendary drop.  Two weeks later, Bindings.  Yasmin gets [Cookie]?

"Levi is evil": Samine's theory last week was that our usual raid leaders had boring raid IDs.  Some new raid leaders the last week or two and bam, Bindings.  Assuming the raid leaders switched on Samine's suggestion (*cough*), does [Cookie] in fact go to Samine?

"Blizzard must die": Theory #3 is that our loot luck stinks, Thottbot lies (6-8% drop rate for Bindings? what the hey), and Blizz hates us by name.  This theory further argues that, based on our drop rate so far, we should see the left half of the Bindings in, oh, Summer '07.  (But thanks for the DKP, Shar!)  Oh, and DE the [Cookie].
Old Uncle Hakkar -- he of the miserly 3-day timer -- discovered the true meaning of Halloween this week. He gets the trick, Ascendance gets the treats. (Tiny Tim says: "Maybe we can start having off-nights OFF now, Uncle Shar? Plz?") Grats Mike on the Ancient Hakkari Manslayer and Susa on the Soul Corruptor's Necklace.

In between straining to finally get up and finish off ZG, we managed to set a new personal speed record on Ragnaros and notch up our best finishes ever on Razorgore and Vaelastrasz. Cleared 5 of the first six BWL bosses in two week(!)nights.  And in the process bound our souls to some shiny new objects we'd never seen before; even had four random epics in BWL tonight. woot?

Now Chrom does a little trick or treating of his own: we drew time lapse and incinerate. =O

And speaking of lapses, grats to Bebel, Oyo, Rahl, Sarah (k, that felt weird), Yasmin, and Amaze on their promotions!  Yasmin and Amaze are now class officers, Sarah, Rahl, and Oyo are new Guild Officers (a gnome in leadership? Talk about equal opportunity employer), and Bebel is Assistant Guild Master.

This week, the puppies, they be kicked.
Extras, actors, models needed--  (doh, no more copying employments ads out of the LA Times)....

P
riests, druids, warlocks, and paladins wanted!  (note: subject to change; check forum for updates!)

We're looking for people who are into hard play, hard work, sportsmanship, cutting-edge content, gnomish line-dancing.  If you've got skills, experience, and great 8x12s (err...) please contact Bebel in-game AND CAREFULLY READ our recruitment forum.

Serious players and applications only! (...)

WTB FEMALE GNOMZ PST!
Congratulations to Yasmin, proud owner of Ascendance's second Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros! Some n00b accidentally put it on the AH for 5g and Yasmin was a millisecond faster on his buyout than "Guildbanklolz." Woot!

Actually, three months of collecting mats pays off and Yasmin now gets more tells than an unguilded priest. Congrats, Yasmin!

And, of course, there's only one way to celebrate two legendaries on a server, and that's for them to beat the living crud out of each other.  Enter Sleepy stage left, cue Battle of the Big Bright Bludgeons.

Yes, it's true, yet another big ol' bird, Uther's own Ebonroc, has gone the way of the dodo and last Thanksgiving's dinner.  Alas, like most especially large, mean mobs around here, he chose to die in a small, dark place, huddled over two still-smoking footprints marked "Sabatons of Wrath (Bought on eBay)," rather than in a nice, bright place that would inconveniently reveal that his "death" had actually been elaborately faked in a sound stage on a top secret island that Ascendance uses for these things.

(In other words, sorry about the pic.)

EDIT: Oh yeah, and at risk of sounding proud of this, Flamegor committed suicide in front of us moments later.

Chrom is now giving us the beady eye.  Stay tuned for more amazing repair bills!

We're still recruiting for a few positions at the moment!  See the appropriate post below.  Bye now.
